How can we stop the senseless killings?

I was talking to a friend of mine today about the number of senseless killings that seem to occur almost daily. During our conversation my friend, who is a minister, commented that the violent acts continue without any fear of retribution. I pray that the killings will stop, but my fear is that these violent acts will continue until our Lord Jesus returns. I urge everyone, myself included, to pray for peace.

True Friends

I called a friend of mine today and asked him to visit my website and sign the guestbook.  A short time later, when i went to the site, Don had already signed the book. We have been friends for a number of years. It is refreshing to know that true friends will follow through . I appreciate the comments so much Don. Thanks!

"LOVE IS NOT AN OPTION"

At today's church services (09/12/2010) our pastor, Dr. David Easterling, preached  from John 15:9-17. The message was clear and to the point. His message simply stated that love is not an option. If we profess to be followers of Christ then we must love our neighbor as we love ourselves. I am so glad that I was present to receive the message. To God be the glory!

A true American hero

It is funny how sometimes we go about our daily routine almost absent-minded about our surroundings and about the people that we meet and interact with. For instance, I have seen and talked with Pete for several years when I work out at Health Central. Prior to today (09/02/2010) our discussions were quick comments about exercise or how hot the steam room was. Today was different. Today I learned that while in the military Pete was critically wounded and spent over a year in hospitals as a result of a jeep turning over about three times. According to Pete, two other individuals were thrown from the vehicle and died. He was thrown from the jeep into snowy water and pinned under the vehicle. The reason that I am writing about this is that after our discussion today Pete said something to me that reinforced my belief in God. Pete said,"The reason that I am still here is because of the good Lord". I say, Amen Brother!

God's Plan

Most of my friends know that I normally go to the gym seven days a week. While working out on the treadmill today, I began to pray silently, just thanking God for a long life and renewing my commitment to  serve  him until  he calls me  home.  Although the economy is rough right now and money is scarce, do not despair. Do not give up. God has a plan. God can and will take care of His children. All we have to do is remember the sacrifice that God made for all of us. Keep his commandments. Stay prayed up.
